Here in CWAM, inter-service
cooperation has served as a model for the rest of the country. Army,
Air Force, and Navy/Marine Corps MARS members regularly attend each
other's functions, help with setup and maintenance of equipment and help
pass traffic through the difficult terrain that Colorado's majestic
Rocky Mountains provide.
CWAM operates several digital message
centers in Boulder, Denver, and Colorado Springs. The Boulder
and Colorado Springs centers have both HF and VHF capabilities.
These message centers are linked to our membership by a network of
digipeaters that provides VHF access from Cheyenne, WY to Pueblo, CO, east
of the Continental Divide and nearly to the Kansas border. We are
constantly striving to increase our coverage and to link new areas to our
system.
All of the equipment that performs
this arduous task is owned and maintained by MARS members in a voluntary
capacity.
